Christ for the City International:

International Office: Omaha, Nebraska

This mission began in 1983 as the urban ministry program of the Latin America Mission Ministry In: Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica, Haiti, Mali, Mexico, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Spain, El Salvador, Bolivia and the USA

Web: cfci.org

Missionaries & Staff: 104 (more than half are local residents)

CFCI:  Our church supports three mission endeavors in Columbia.

  1. Pedro and Mabel Hernandez
Prayer request: pray for Pedro as he plants new churches in Colombia and works with the various pastoral associations, youth ministries, and trains missionaries for short term missions. He also has a ministry which aids teenage girls involved in prostitution and another ministering to pastor’s children.

  2. MISION CALEB is the missionary arm of existing to assist the Co Christ for the City International/Colombia, Colombian Church in training and developing her indigenous and cross-cultural missionaries using an innovative spiritual and intellectual pedagogy to include practical short-term outreach ministries both in and outside Colombia. The name MISSION CALEB is based on the Joshua 14:6-13 text, where one reads of Caleb, in his 85th year, vigorously passing before Joshua to request permission to "seize" his rightful promised inheritance of Canaanite land. Caleb, as one faithful fellow spy to the next, "reminds"Joshua of the earlier promise to him by Moses... taking Joshua back forty- five years to the time when they both gave Moses the only favorable report at the completion of that now famous exploration trip into Canaan lands (Numbers 13:30). Of course in so doing Caleb earned a sure inheritance for himself and his descendants to follow (Numbers 14:24). So there you have it... if an 85 year old faithful Caleb could still be used by God to accomplish His purposes, how much more will God use the vision and strength of Colombian youth today to accomplish His purposes to reach a lost world

Prayer request:  Pray for Mission Caleb, the organization that trains young Colombians to fulfill their goal of preparing cross-cultural church planters and disciple-makers.  They train young men to ministry to un-reached Islamic people in the “10-40” areas of the world.  Once such team is now in Iraq.  Kelly (Roberto) Green is the director. Kelly (Roberto) and Cherie Green

Prayer request: Please pray for Kelly and Cherie and their son, Juan Jose in Medellin, Columbia.  Kelly travels all over Colombia to support the nation’s church leadership.  He reports seeing Colombians uniting in evangelism in this embattled country. The people are hungry for something different than the daily horrors they experience in this drug capital of the world.

  3. CFCI:  Our church also supports mission work in Costa Rica. To break the cycle of physical and sexual abuse, early unwed pregnancy, lack of education, and poverty, CFCI workers have an outreach specifically to young teenage girls living in a squatter settlement.  A CFCI social worker befriends and counsels them.  They are being trained to hold jobs and get an education.  A shelter for those pregnant, or not pregnant but at risk or abused, including those with babies, will give them protection, restoration, training, and emotional and spiritual growth.  The goal is to teach self esteem, parenting skills, principles of family life and a means of supporting a family, all within a Christian context.

FRONTIERS

Frontiers' passion is to glorify God by planting the Gospel of Love among unreached Muslim peoples. Founded in 1982 by Dr. Greg Livingstone, FRONTIERS now has members serving to love, respect and bring peace with Muslims in over 40 countries. This organization was born out of Dr. Livingstone's conviction that God had not forgotten one-fifth of the world's population. Under God's blessing, teams with clear goals and strong mutual commitments can plant the Gospel in the Muslim world. We believe that communities of Jesus-followers, the Apostle Paul's model, is the key to serving Muslims today. Our singular focus enables us to pour our resources, experience, and growing expertise into this one objective.

Wycliffe Bible Translators

We are a family of many unique individuals who have come together for a common goal: God’s Word for the whole world. We each lend our one-of-a-kind talents and skills to the cause of Bible translation, and together we trust God for transformed lives. We are men and women, young and old, from many nations and of many colors and cultures. We come from many different churches and denominations, but we all worship one Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Unified in our calling, we pray for and work towards the day when every language community will have an equal opportunity to discover God’s truth in the Bible.
